A knock down rebuild in one of Canberra’s most sought after suburbs. This striking contemporary home has been designed to be rational and space efficient, combining passive solar orientation with a number of flexible spaces and interconnected zones, designed perfectly to support the ever-evolving lifestyle of its occupants – a young family.
This home has been designed and built to achieve the clients’ brief of a modern, interesting home that was timeless yet full of personality. The clients were drawn to a natural palette but were seeking assistance in being brave with detailing and material choices. To resolve and deliver the interiors of the home, the clients’ engaged with our preferred interior design firm – Studio & You. This process resulted in a comprehensive design direction and documentation package, to support the architectural documentation. This collaboration resulted in a calming neutral palette comprised of varied tonal whites, brushed nickel and soft oak timbers that flow throughout the interior, ultimately complementing the form, finish and architectural intent of the home.
Achieving a 7.2-star rating through effective insulation, thermal mass and appropriate orientation. The home also uses passive design principles as a starting point, with living areas oriented to the north and the windows and thermal mass optimised for comfort. The end result is a home of beauty, which is light filled, comfortable, functional and above anything else a pleasure to be in.
